Greenfield Masterclass is Inspirational
Greenfield Arts are delighted to share the success of their recent creative writing masterclass with has been led by renowned local author John Dean.
The two sessions got off to a great start and immediately attracted a keen circle of budding writers who enjoyed the opportunity of putting pen to paper and learning new writing skills.
The class has also played an important part in unearthing hidden talents, through John’s inspiration, participant Kathryn Palmer found the confidence to apply for a place on the ‘writer’s block’ initiative and was thrilled to be selected for what promises to be an exciting journey.
Writers Block North East is a nine-month writer development programme which offers mentoring and advice from industry professionals and the exciting opportunity to work as writers in residence at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA). The programme will also culminate in a showcasing event which will be attended by literary agents and gatekeepers.
Greenfield’s Art Centre Co-ordinator, Sophie Lewis was thrilled with the news, Sophie, who had highlighted the opportunity to the group was very impressed with Kathryn’s progress in such a short time. “It’s great to know that Greenfield Arts are an integral part of creating real opportunities in the community, this is such good news we wish Kathryn all the best in her new venture and look forward to our new classes with John in the near future”.
Novelist John Dean will be running two further masterclasses on Thursday 11th May and Thursday 15th June 6pm – 8pm, where he will again focus on plotting stories and creating characters. Greenfield Arts will also be catching up with Kathryn in the future as they have been chosen to host a one-day conference organised by Writers Block in their purpose built art studio. “It is great to be so involved from start to finish” said Sophie Lewis “and we look forward to new writers being inspired in the future”.
