“I Love Greenfield Arts …”I love GA web

This week is ‘small charity week and it has given friends and users of the gallery at Greenfield Arts a lovely opportunity to reflect on the importance of this creative community space and what it means to individual artists, young people and visitors.

The initiative, organised through the Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI) is helping to raise awareness about the ‘invaluable contribution of millions of individuals, communities and causes across the UK’.  The week kicks off with ‘I love small charities day’ and to mark this users all over the country are invited to share all that is good about their particular charity. Why not get involved on social media and let us know what it is you love about Greenfield Arts.

Young people at Greenfield Arts were more than happy to shout about the great activities that are going on in their community space in a dedicated workshop.  They voiced their feelings by creating colourful posters with lovely comments such as “I love Greenfield Arts because it’s fun and we get creative” and “I love Greenfield Arts because we get to do fun stuff like printing flowers and messy fun!”

The activity was led by artist Dawn Belshaw and is one of a series of workshops giving young people the chance to voice their opinions and ideas with a view to making the most of the fabulous space and opportunities the gallery has to offer.

Sophie Lewis, Arts and Community Centre Co-ordinator for Greenfield Arts, was thrilled with the response from the young people and how they can inform programming in the future “it’s great to offer the students a voice and listen to their insightful comments and ideas to make sure we are doing our best to inspire creativity that is right for them.”
